Why it exists
The internet is full of words that cost nothing and last nothing. Estela is the opposite: a small, slow, finite place. Each person may write a single sentence in their whole life. Nobody can edit it or delete it. It costs money — a little, but it costs. And there is a limit: ten thousand sentences. Then it closes.
We don't know what people will write. Maybe what they would say to someone who is gone. Maybe a confession, a joke, a recipe. It doesn't matter: all we ask is that it is yours, and that you think before you write, because there is no second one.
So that nothing depends on us, the complete archive can be downloaded at any time, in open formats. If this site ever disappears, the sentences won't.
